Introducing the document-centric table of contents.

In documents such as whitepapers, research reports, and user manuals, content is typically organized differently than that of standard consumer publications. As an industry-leading publishing platform, our job is to ensure all readers have an exceptional user experience, regardless of the content they are viewing. We realized that our table of contents needed updating to meet this standard, and today we are releasing our new, document-centric table of contents.

Document publishers and communications teams frequently publish books that have large volumes of text, with layouts that aren’t as complex as a standard consumer publication. Some have exceptionally long articles that are difficult to navigate when broken up into multiple pages, while others are chaptered like a book — with several levels of subheaders within each chapter. Paginating this content can break it up in a way that can be confusing for the reader. To address this we’ve introduced a collapsible, multi-level table of contents so readers can navigate within articles quickly and find the content they need.

If you’re interested in enabling this style of TOC, reach out to your support team through the publisher dashboard and we can set it up for you.
